Defeating the agreement would also support local and indigenous communities, plus environmental NGOs in South America, who have long raised alarm over the risk of accelerated deforestation in the Amazon and Cerrado biomes.

It risks unfair competition for Irish beef farmers, threatening the viability of many family farms and undermining farmers' role as custodians of our environment.
