Ponferrada is where I finished this year with Ballyhaunis school friends. (I have three different groups currently walking different routes.)

Really glad you like the piece Anne Marie. Some of the photos they used must have been taken in winter cos it was pure yellow when I was there, no green whatsoever. (On a semi-related note, I’ve been competing in Duolingo Spanish with a contact called Anne Marie. Is this you??6

The piece appeared exactly as written, but it did so beneath a massive banner headline that read BONKERS BRIAN BACK ON STAGE!! I’ve been butting heads with editors ever since.

At the time, I didn’t know that journalists don’t write their own headlines. So I called the piece SURFIN’ O.A.P.: a clever play on words (I thought) referencing one of his biggest hits & his advancing years. The day the piece appeared I rushed out to see my words in print…
