Definitely not the Ed Costello you were looking for.

this is incredible stuff. most state DOTs would spend tens of billions on highway expansions to try and see numbers like this (that wouldn’t even pan out anyway thanks to induced demand lol)

Old enough that even with reading glasses sometimes I like to –+ a page a few times. Unfortunately, someone at Google decided that if you zoom one Gmail window, all gmail windows are zoomed. I don't see this with any other tabs in Chrome or separated windows in Chrome, just Gmail (so far).

Played with fire this morning and upgraded the home firewall two full levels and since everything seems to be running still post upgrade that’ll be it for the year (it has automatic upgrades turned off due to previous surprises).

It took well into adulthood, perhaps too long, to realize and accept that I could simply cut terrible, shitty, people out of my life.

Was thinking about the fact that enough “Epstein photos” have been released that, when coupled with a person’s public social media history and that wonderful creation of Sillycon Valley wingnuts, Deep Fake AI image processing, one could create convincing photos of anyone hanging out with Epstein.

Coming around to the guiding principle of Fight Club though I would get caught on the outskirts of the blast radius.

12:45 a.m. the almost two year old puppy sits very firmly and intentionally on my back on the bed, then jumps off, runs to my side, panting and nudging ny hand.
12:47 a.m. brain recognizes the pattern (ancient 1960s human model) and scrambles to dress and get her out the door, and to the elevator.

Started to descale our Breville Oracle Pro and apparently I’m too slow because halfway through making the solution it reset to the screen saver and I get to repeat the setup process again.

I now know why I avoided doing this.

New spam/scam strategy: getting tons of touts to sell my dead, never really functional, LLC to "an interested offshore family who invests in successful businesses in that space". Domains resolve but have no web sites and were registered in past month.

Wild that simply reminding people of the Constitutional constraints on state and Federal power is now cast as illegal and treasonous. You know that an agency that can ignore the 1st, 4th, and 5th amendments can also easily ignore the 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and others, right?

Late night, jet–lagged, discovery that something randomly is deleting important messages in Gmail and can't figure out what it is (no filters match).

Getting the deluge of post–trip surveys. Generally don’t mind providing feedback except when the survey becomes a public review. Canceled out of three so far once it became clear the responses would be posted publicly.

There are many good dogs in Poblenau and I attempted to say hi to many of them. Next trip I need to bring or buy treats.

Trying to figure out the Catalan for “tell your dog I said hi” and “may I pet your dog?”

If I’m not replying to you and that causes you some sort of discomfort, go outside and touch some snow, I’m going to be on a plane for eight hours.

Republicans will gloat that they handily won TN–07. Democrats will wring their hands over how a “better candidate” would have won or that the candidate was “too far left”.

I need liberal campaigns (political or non-profit) to come up with a contact level that is somewhere between never, ever, contact me again and please, yes, send me a message every minute.

Yes, I donated, and I support you. But, I don’t need a messaging “touch” multiple times a day nor week.

I need it to get just a tad bit warmer outside to finish my before–it–snows punch list. Just. A. Bit.

Estimate of six calendar days to mail an item from Rhinebeck to Poughkeepsie, maybe twenty five miles? And same sorting center. Louis de Joy’s “reforms” of the Post Office going awesomely.

Nothing like a surprise yet expected trip to the EU to derail the plans for the day, week, and month to come.
