A group of employers demand faster permit for mining and weakening protections under Water & Waste Framework.

Result will be:
◾ Polluted rivers
◾ Damaged ecosystems
◾ Poisoned communities

Water is a human right - not a commodity.

The Commission must side by people and the planet; not profit.

Culture isn’t a luxury. Public cultural spaces are where we learn, debate, remember, and belong. Undermining them doesn’t just close doors - it weakens social cohesion and opens space for distortion and polarisation.
February 13, 2026 at 12:03 PM
The action is happening across Europe, but the pattern is the same: years of budget cuts → staff shortages + below-inflation pay + rising workloads + precarity. Burnout rises. Experienced staff leave. Public services suffer.

Since mid-2025 we’ve seen walkouts and strikes in museums, galleries, libraries and cultural institutions - from the Louvre to the British Library, from Portugal to Belgium, Germany and Spain.

Planning a museum trip this weekend?

Across Europe, some doors are closing - not because of art robberies or renovations, but because museum and culture staff are taking action for fair pay, safe staffing and decent working conditions.

👨‍🚒 Today in Brussels, #firefighters marched in full gear to demand safety, more staff and investment.

They risk their lives for us - we need to protect them. However, austerity policies put their lives at risk.

EPSU stands in #solidarity with them!

Our joint call with @etuce.bsky.social to invest in public health and address workforce shortages was featured in @politico.eu's Morning Health Care.

As leaders meet tomorrow, our message is clear: competitiveness cannot come at the expense of public services.

EPSU President Françoise Geng joined workers in Strasbourg today to back the call from @efbww.bsky.social, @effat.org and @etf-europe.bsky.social.

End exploitative #subcontracting. Strengthen labour inspections. Europe needs a binding EU Directive. ✊

“Made in Europe” sounds simple. But it could decide who gets billions in public money - and on what conditions.

As EU leaders gather to discuss the label, @jwgoudriaan.bsky.social explains why it must come with strong social, labour and tax rules.

Today, young workers are marching on Washington DC.

From Armenia, Tatevik from the EPSU Youth Network shares why this demand is not abstract for young workers there: it means access to healthcare without financial hardship or insecurity.

Their fight is our fight - in Europe and around the world. ✊

Young workers in the US will march on Washington DC to defend their futures.

From #Ukraine, Anastasiia explains why this fight is not abstract — even in war, young workers stand together to defend labour rights, dignity and democracy at work.

Because the fight for workers’ rights is global. ✊

Young workers are marching on Washington DC this weekend - but their demands aren’t just American. Across Europe and the world, young workers face the same fight for fairness.

Ljupka from EPSU’s Youth Network sends #solidarity from the streets of North Macedonia all the way to the USA! ✊

People are clear about their priorities: cost of living, jobs, public health.

Yet the Commission is pushing #austerity and a corporate agenda.

This doesn’t match people’s concerns.

Europe needs a #PublicServicesAgenda for people - not deregulation for big business.

🤔 Did you know? New research with @forsatradeunion.bsky.social members suggests two-thirds of health staff in Ireland are actively considering leaving.

That’s not an Ireland-only problem. It’s the same pressure many health and care workers face across Europe.

@euractiv.com covered EPSU’s warning:

Never again is not a slogan. It’s a responsibility.

On this #HolocaustRemembranceDay, we cleaned the #stolpersteine of Sally Frankenthal, hidden in Brussels with her parents, by resistance fighter Nelly Quintart.

We stand against fascism - no matter where they appear.

#NeverAgain is today.

EU budget is not tight when it comes to corporate adventures.

➡️ EU takes the risk - gives the money.
⬅️ Corporates enjoy, almost with no conditionalities.

We're listening @angelawigger.bsky.social at the Derisking* event by @eeb.org , @neweconomics.bsky.social, @counter-balance.bsky.social & EPSU.
