and amazon, which I don't trust because it's lousy with temu, fake bullshit, is replacing its review search with ai bullshit. Bullshit on top of bullshit.

This is, no exaggeration, an extremely frustrating experience. This shit isn't cheap (the clothes I find, I mean), and I don't trust products on amazon to actually have the specifications they say they have.

similarly, looking for products online, product locators very often claim a store will have something when they don't. Or stores will default to online availability, when I'm looking for in-store availability. It's driving me insane.

my god, if I search -'term' or NOT 'term', 'term' should not be the first result. Google is worthless and only saved by how worthless other search engines are

I'll admit a motivator for "To the Lighthouse" is I'm afraid to tackle Proust, and Virginia Woolf feels like (maybe I'm wrong) a good acclimation step

I also avoid reading about books ahead of time. It pisses me off that intros to classic books, like when I considered "Madame Bovary", will spoil the entire thing in some book intro.

Considering 'To the Lighthouse' or 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being' next. Probably the latter first

It doesn't make full sense- I still watch and like fiction movies. I keep trying various classical russian lit, and the (not so surprising at all) surprise russian orthodox Christianity doesn't totally work *for me*. Obviously there's other themes, but you know
