3. Couch talks a lot about what should be on someone's tombstone. Every offensive football coach on the Wake Forest in 2019 and 2020 should have something about how they didn't realize what they had in Kenneth Walker. Absolutely mind-blowing

1. Great effing win.
2. This Wisconsin game isn't the biggest game they'll have played this year, but it'll be the most telling

Last year all I heard was that Modern Day Muddy had no money for transfers. That class brought in 23 kids and was ranked 28th nationally. They fire the AD, bring in a fund-raising genius, and then fire Modern Day Muddy. This years transfer class has 26 kids and is ranked 55th. What's happening?

For everyone doing the whole "Izzo's Bermuda Triangle" take: you realize that in recent years this mid-January to early February dip wasn't an aberration but rather an affirmation that they just weren't very good, right?
February 6, 2026 at 11:44 AM
Can we stop with this "well if they had Kaleb Glenn they'd be fine" nonsense? They'd be better, no doubt. But we're talking about a kid who was 2nd team All-conference in the AAC who, by the way, puts 10 players on their 1st-team. He'd be another nice piece on a team made up of nice pieces
February 6, 2026 at 11:42 AM
You keep saying stuff like "Izzo thought he'd have enough with Teng", just like you said "Izzo thought he'd have enough with Sissoko". Just once can you, I dunno, have the next words out of your mouth be how puzzling that must be to everyone who ever watched Teng play basketball before?

Is it fair to speculate that MSU's story is that they benefitted from being one of the few connected and experienced teams early on, had a joke B1G schedule early, and now that water is finding its level we're learning they aren't actually all that good?
February 6, 2026 at 11:40 AM
3. The Illinois game is obviously huge. But how they respond at Minnesota might tell us even more
February 2, 2026 at 12:07 PM
2. What we're seeing from Kohler is the closest thing we've seen to Appling since Appling. 5 for his last 26 from 3? Single digit rebounds in 7 of the last 8, including in the last 2 combined? What in the name of everything holy happened?!
February 2, 2026 at 12:06 PM
1. That comeback doesn't happen at Crisler or a neutral site. You know it, I know it. While it might not be time to panic, acting like this teams ceiling as it currently sits isn't a step below the program expectation is ignorant
February 2, 2026 at 12:06 PM
MSU won a road game with absolute stinkers from their two best 2-guards and Kohler. Should I be more confident in the direction of the season that they can win a game like that, or more concerned that they can have a game where Teng, Kohler, and Scott combine for 2 points?

Couch is right that coen carr contributes even when he's not scoring. But for this team to make a deep run and contend for a title, it can't keep looking like 4 on 5 offensively when he's out there
January 19, 2026 at 11:58 AM
Ok. Tell us one time. Does msu have enough NIL money (NOT REV SHARE) to be competitive in the transfer portal? How does MSU's NIL compare to a year ago when all you guys said they didn't have enough? I don't need dollar amounts. But can you tell me something? Please?
January 9, 2026 at 12:01 PM
Carr and fears are a combined 6/44 from 3 since the beginning of December. Nobody's asking for 40%, but you can't be sub-15. If that's not figured out, MSU's looking at a tougher year than what their current record/ranking would indicate

2. Since there's been a CFP committee (12 years), 6 non-power teams have finished in the top 12. Average of one every 2 years. That's plenty often enough for teams to have hope
3. If they're gonna make it so one gets in automatically, whatever. You can't let two in
December 22, 2025 at 12:06 PM
1. Couch's "you need an autobid from a group of 5" take is wrong. I used to agree with him. I don't now. Here's why

Is UM telling media that they can't ask Sherrone Moore-related questions to players an example of how they just want this to go away so they can go back to doing what they've always done? If MSU was in this scenario would they do the same thing? Our players got asked about Mel

I'm not upset at any individual hire, but looking at how MSU's coaching staff is filling out, there's a lot of dudes from the Big Ten West. Like, a lot. I get Fitz coached there. But should there be any worry in our ability to build a championship program with so many guys from a crap division?
December 19, 2025 at 11:19 AM
If it's true that Izzo didnt bring in a real 2 because it wouldve forced Kur Teng to transfer, that means he needs to be a true big 10 starting 2-guard. If this team comes up short because they lack one of those, Teng should be seen as the reason why. And since hes a pro, its not unfair to say that

Speaking of integrity: how in the name of everything holy does Warde still have a job right now? Is there another athletic department that, with the above characteristics, would keep their AD? And that's just the football stuff!
December 12, 2025 at 1:22 PM
7 coaches arrested.Largest on-field cheating scandal in history. Recruiting violations leading to suspensions. Destroying evidence. Multiple show-cause penalties. And for most of it, open defiance by the school when questioned. Can we all agree that UM and integrity dont belong in the same sentence?
December 12, 2025 at 1:21 PM
It's clear that many of those who cover UM had at least some idea that this was going on. Did anyone who covers UM investigate it? Let's reverse this and say it's MSU: if these rumors had been flying since August, would people like you or Mencarini have looked into it further?

1) Grahams first take on Saturday was dead on: this loss was disappointing, not discouraging
2) I don't love bringing back Rossi
December 8, 2025 at 11:50 AM
1) the point is that people outside of Fitz and Batt knew about them talking. It stayed quiet. Fitz not being with a team doesn't make any difference there
2) suggesting Haller had better instincts than Batt in how this thing should run on the eve of a $400m donation is a wild one

MSU had a great year last season, but in their two games vs top 10 opponents they were an obvious step behind. Is it crazy to think that if they play Duke fairly even that it'd be among the most promising performances in years, even if they lose?
