Dan Sinykin is good. So is Timothy Bewes’ Free Indirect: The Novel in a Postfictional Age. Not sure how “important” people consider the latter, though.

I was in the middle of the first volume of My Struggle when I posted. Now I'm about halfway through volume 3. I highly recommend.
