The Spellshop

This is the first #cozycottagecore book I've truly enjoyed. Just enough plot to keep things moving. A good feels and good vibes book. This story is a little like a warm hug. I want some jam now.

Good Material
By Dolly Alderton

Read this for #bookclub. The MC was annoying af. Every decision he made I was shaking my head. The book highlighted some of the ways men are bad supporting each other. I liked reading a book like this from a man's perspective.

Alright it's time to finally share this

Onyx Storm
By Rebecca Yarros

I was..underwhelmed. Felt like filler. I don't want to spoil anything, but I disliked the ending as it compares to the ending of Iron Flame. At this point Vi and Xaden are starting to grate on me.

All the light we cannot see
By Anthony Doerr

I really enjoyed the various perspectives of youth growing up and suffering leading up to and during WW2. I wasn't super thrilled with the way the book jumped around. The ending was bittersweet.

The Vanishing Half
By Brit Bennett

This story was a riveting picture into what is was like for Black people 60s-80s. I loved seeing the paths each sister/cousin takes. I had a hard time connecting with the characters. I was interested in the plot but didn't care much which way things went.

Somewhere Beyond the Sea
By TJ Klune

This one doesn't quite recreate the charm of HCS but it was really nice to revisit our beloved characters and meet David, who is definitely an adult. This was a cozy feel good read.

Pageboy

I listened to this, narrated by the author. I really enjoyed this memoir. I was surprised how lowly rated this one was. It seems like not everyone likes it, but something about it really worked for me.

Party Princes
By Meg Cabot

So far this is my least favorite of the Princess Diaries books. I'm not going to stop reading them, but this one felt like pure filler.

Princess in Training

I am on my princess diaries kick. It's cute, it's short, it makes me feel like I'm really witnessing an awkward 15 year old navigate high school.

Livesuit
By James S.A. Corey

I liked this book more than the 1st in the series. This book gives a different pov of the more general conflict. I felt like this book filled in some important gaps the first book lacked. Short and bittersweet.

The Collected Regrets of Clover
By Mikki Brammer

I was supposed to read this for bookclub last year but it was assigned the same month Eleanor died and I just couldn't bring myself to read it then. I came back to it this week while traveling and I'm glad I did.. 1/2

Princess Diaries Book 5: Princess in Pink
By Meg Cabot

Quick and fun read for a plane ride. Mia is well written as I truly feel like I'm reading the diary of a 14 year old girl in 2003. Fun, fast, light read that occasionally gives me secondhand embarrassment.

This book fell flat for me. The characters felt underdeveloped and left me wanting more but the premise was really interesting. Definitely unique from other sci-fi I've read. I'm hoping the next in the series connects me more to the characters.

Both the plot and character relationships were weak. I liked the idea of the premise but it needed a lot of work. This felt like a first draft.
