I spent yesterday with my family, recounting my amazing experience at PAX and playing games. Highlight of my weekend was how happy my nephew was reading the “book” I wrote and playing with the cards ❤️

Adulting sold out at the Indie Games Night Market! It warms my heart to know this game is out there in the world bringing people joy. Thank you Kyle for helping me run the booth, and thanks to everyone that made IGNM a reality!!

Got to watch a couple Oregon touchdowns before I head down to the night market. What a perfect day. Go Ducks!

Wedding gift vs. indie game

For PAXU, I’m staying with my sister who I originally designed Adulting for (it was her wedding gift). When I arrived tonight, she had her copy of the original out to welcome me. Adulting was born of love for my family and I’m so happy to spend the night here before I share it at IGNM tomorrow!

I ran a game design workshop at my local makerspace today. It was fun showing off the games me and my friends have made as a starting point. I loved that I could say, “you don’t have to make a thousand copies to bring your game to life.” Indie games rule!!

Reading the rules, I really love the way it replicates a river ecosystem. The player objectives create incentives to interact with the river and other players in interesting ways. Can’t wait to play it!!

The tournament for my basketball card game went great! We got to the semifinals and will finish with the final few games next Sunday. Thank you to all who participated. This was such a fun way to playtest the game. I’ll definitely run another sometime in the future!

Spending some time today putting together jerseys for each player in the tournament next Sunday. There is still time to sign up if you'd care to join! No experience with card games or basketball needed. It's a super simple game, and I'll teach you before we start.

Got these two lovelies in the mail yesterday. I’m already voraciously reading through Cardboard Ghosts, and plan to use the graphic design book as I begin work on a couple new prototypes. Thanks @amabel.bsky.social and @danielsolis.bsky.social for helping me level up my game design :)

A great starting selection for game night at the food pantry! I had the pleasure of playing Quacks of Quedlinburg and two games of Bread by @xoe.gay. I was a little selfish in my first Bread game and we all starved. Luckily, everyone wanted to play again so I had a chance to redeem myself!

For gateway gamers who like a cozy theme. I hope it can be a game shared with newbie gamer friends to teach them basic engine building mechanics.
