I may not agree with what you say. But I will defend to the death my right to make fun of you for saying it.

It’s so funny to see unserious goofballs in silly costumes facing off against a frog.

It's infuriating how conservatives were the Chuds Who Cried Wolf for years, saying "America is being destroyed!" over things like trying to make healthcare affordable, so now that America IS being destroyed, people don't listen. They're like, "LOL, we used to say that too, but we were always lying."

You know who's been pretty quiet about all this? Charlie Kirk.

Look, I'm not gonna claim he's the worst president ever – we've had some bad ones – but he's certainly the one who lied the most outrageously

I think when the libraries are gone that will really be the end of us.

You know what's a great, free way to watch movies and listen to audiobooks in our declining empire? Your local public library (if still open)! I quit Audible when I quit Amazon, and I listen to more books now, through Libby, than I did before. Libraries have DVDs, too! Maybe even DVD players!

This is missing my favorite horror movie role: GUY AT THE GAS STATION WHO TELLS THE TEENS THEY'RE DOOMED

What is your horror movie role this Halloween? 🎃 👻 🔪

Important to remember that "Blum" rhymes with dumb.

Jason Blum's take on AI sucks. an AI takeover isn't inevitable, and treating it as such (while also referring to filmmaking as "content creation," smdh) helps AI companies promote the lie that their deeply unprofitable, destructive tech is more powerful and useful than it actually is.

I agree that it (and other films) should be taught in school, but in reality I doubt more than 10% of people under the age of 40 have seen it. I'm surprised when someone that age HAS seen it.

JENNY DYE DO SOMETHING BESIDES GO TO NYC AND WATCH GUSTER CHALLENGE!!

Earlier this year, when Bezos ruined the Washington Post (I don't remember what the last straw was), I quit Amazon. Canceled my Prime membership, stopped ordering things. To my astonishment, I am still alive, and buying things from local businesses more often, and doing more pirating. You can do it!

Folks, if ICE shot a pastor in the head with a pepper ball on camera, what do you think they do to people behind closed doors?

twice a year the entire U.S. press becomes a marketing extension of a single billionaire-owned retailer, and nobody in any position of editorial power thinks it's weird or gross

Another thing about CASABLANCA: maybe the funniest non-comedy?

Every world religion is clear on this. If at any point in your life you find that you have zip-tied a child, you are going to every version of hell.

Monstrous.

"federal agents detained nearly every resident of the 130-unit building—including children and babies—placing them in zip ties and separating them by race into vans for more than two hours early Tuesday morning."

Good reporting on the South Shore raid from South Side weekly here.

Confirms one thing I was told but didn't put in my own piece because I didn't have a second source and it seemed too insane: border agents segregated arrested residents by race

Every part of this sentence describes an abomination before God. People are going to hell for this.

When the German couple headed for America is happily practicing their broken English and toasting, "To America!" I got a little emotional. Hell yeah, TO AMERICA! Or to what America used to stand for, anyway. Our current regime is, if nothing else, grossly unpatriotic.

At the end, when Laszlo says that the good guys are going to win, the audience in 1943 didn't know whether that would prove true. I have no way of knowing whether the good guys are going to win this time around either, but Rick, as a symbol of American decency and honor, makes me optimistic.

I just watched CASABLANCA with a 24-year-old guy and gal, and they loved it SO MUCH. I showed it to another couple their age a couple of years ago and got the same reaction. That movie is great across multiple generations. Watching it now made me feel extra resist-y, too. Man, what a picture.

You gotta wonder why people and institutions with a history of speaking out on things *haven’t* called them out.

Greta Thunberg called out Russia and Israel, Pope Leo called out Russia and Israel, the late Jane Goodall called out Russia and Israel. Notice a pattern? Intelligent and heroic people stand against tyranny whether it is Russia or Israel.

Didn’t realize The Rock’s Oscarbatory movie got a B- CinemaScore. That essentially means the opening-night audience hated it, which usually means it wasn’t what they were expecting (which in The Rock’s case could mean it was actually good).
