Award-winning TV writer (Star Trek: Discovery) and wanna-be director. Making everything else up as I go.

"There was no plan. I don’t have a plan. You have plans. But out there, you can’t. I don’t choose to do the things I have to do. They just keep happening."

A great line for Maximus, but also one that resonates with any RPG player who returns to a game months later and forgets what they were doing.

There's a lot of misery right now, so I wanted to share something bringing me a sliver of joy -- I'm greatly enjoying the second season of "Fallout"

It accurately captures how any goal in the games is beset upon by a multitude of distractions -- some dangerous, some silly, or a combination thereof.

Some 2025 Letterboxd stats. Down in screenings a little from last year (155).

Seeing "Mimic" at Beyond Fest pushed Brolin and del Toro into the top viewed spots. I saw 4 titles from both, which tied with Jamie Lee Curtis (boosted by a "Halloween" / "Halloween II" double) and Steven Spielberg.

This could be us, hanging out in a regular room with food and booze.

I'd have gone with Khan putting Ceti eels in WB and regulator's ears, personally.

TMP's greatest sin is not sticking with McCoy's retirement look. I aspire to exude even a fraction of his energy shown in that moment.

Was fortunate enough to spend a few hours on Pandora last night. If you enjoyed the previous two films and / or you're a big James Cameron fan like I am, you'll have a good time with "Avatar: Fire and Ash". Excited to see it again on the biggest screen I can find.

WGA / TAG members who are also into TTRPGs, be sure to check out Carlos's generous offer. He's put a lot of great work into these campaigns for Daggerheart.

I, for one, am happy to see the Democrats realize the potential of Amazon's 89th best selling book in the category of "Politics & Government".

And to achieve such an impressive placement when sold for the hefty sum of $0.99... well, you can't help but be inspired.

For Halloween 2020, I repurposed my TNG uniform into a "Borg weary Riker" costume on Zoom. It was a lot of fun -- I used OBS to key out my background and composite me into an image of the fritzing viewscreen.

My wife's costume for her job was Janeway from "Year of Hell".

We were very bored.

“It’s called evil, kid!”

There was a limited blu-ray release of “Extraterrestrial Visitors” (aka “Pod People”) that came with a stuffed Trumpy and a recreation of the “I’m a Virgin” shirt. I rarely wear the shirt because I’ve been stopped multiple times by disapproving elderly folks.

MST3K and Thanksgiving are permanently linked in my mind. Same for James Bond marathons. We’ve got both playing throughout the day while we cook.

Currently playing one of my faves — “Pod People” — a classic episode.

“Hey, try to be nice to your boyfriend’s girlfriend.”

It's artwork from the poster for "Hausu" / "House", a 1977 Japanese horror comedy.

The Criterion release describes the film as "an episode of 'Scooby-Doo' as directed by Mario Bava," which is incredibly accurate.

It's a movie I enjoy and I found the art striking, so it's been my av for many years!

He co-wrote two classic "Treehouse of Horror" segments with Greg Daniels -- "The Devil and Homer Simpson" and "Time and Punishment".

The latter may be my favorite ToH segment. Its first 40 seconds are absurd comedy gold.

Rest in peace, Dan, and thanks for the laughs.

Let's hope we get to see him pay homage to Sideshow Bob's next line.

It's in the sequel -- "The Order of the Black Eagle"

That would be my guess. They talked a lot about bottle episodes or "bottling up the action," especially in early TNG interviews.

I'm jealous of your copy of "The Making of Star Trek" -- it's in significantly better shape than mine! Though the previous owner kindly answered the teaser question.

He'd also be sympathetic to the excuse of "locker room talk," though I doubt he'd be keen on the actual language that phrase is synonymous with.

"You know how it is, a bunch of men together, sometimes things get a little crass..." Then a look to Niles in his squash garb, who gasps, "A little?!"

Absolutely incredible screening tonight at the Egyptian. @amcinematheque.bsky.social and @beyondfest.bsky.social blew the doors off with the 4K restoration of “Hard Boiled”, followed by a Q&A with the legend himself, John Woo, who regaled us with stories of nearly blowing up Chow Yun-fat.

It's wild for anyone to assert that STIII is the end of that shipping when half of The Voyage Home is them settling back into friendly bickering like an old married couple.

"You guys like Italian?" "No." "Yes." "No." "Yes, I love Italian... and so do you." "...Yes."

Few things bring me greater joy than seeing a movie I love at the theater. Especially when that theater is the Egyptian.

We see it in only a few episodes, but it's actually mentioned in the S1 series bible to show how different TNG is from the TOS era.

In "Yesterday's Enterprise" Guinan notes the lack of children as being part of what's wrong with the timeline. Alt-Picard is shocked by the idea of families on board
