Hey Aspen Valley residents: this Sunday I’ll be speaking about my love of film, my experience making Anomaly, and performing a bit of film related magic at this AspenFilm event in conjunction with the Basalt Library. I’d love it if you’d come, bring a bunch of friends, and tell everyone you know.

Nails trimmed, hands washed, fresh package of Pilot G2 pens and a clean well lit space at the dining room table. This is where you’ll find me for the next 3-4 days.

Fellows event at the Aspen Institute tonight was an evening of conversation with Scott Galloway.

Smart, funny, angry and lobbing refreshingly candid opinions about economics, politics, and social issues. A terrific night of thought provoking and sometimes challenging brain food. I like him.

You would be positively soaring if you could get as excited about anything in your life as my daughter was about this flight of lemonade.

Inspiring and thrilling things are out there for each of us. We don’t need an 11 minute ride to the Kármán line. It’s everywhere, everyday. Pay attention.

I was showing my daughter the upcoming show mailer from Wheeler Opera House, and telling her we were going to see Colin Cloud.

Her: “Can we go see Judy Collins?”
Me: “Judy Collins? Why?”
Her: “I love scary stories.”

Ushered in the new year at home with my family, and a dinner of “surf and turf” as requested by my daughter.

Happy New Year! It is my profound hope that everyone finds magic in their lives, 2025.

Two performances before dinner last night, followed by two performances after dinner. Each set was 30 minutes—no repeated material. Not the most cohesive and well structured sets, but nonetheless seemed well received.

Venue, moments before the doors opened for the first performance.

Standing at the actual mirror that was in Charles Dickens room as he practiced his recitation of A Christmas Carol—Parker House, Boston, c. 1868.

Jerry didn’t mention anything about the election, didn’t wink or nod in either political direction, and delivered a very tight, very funny 45 minute set that united us in laughter. A reminder that entertainment is in fact essential, and how the right voice at the right moment can be healing.

This nondescript brick carriage house in Brooklyn is where Dr. Samuel Hooker used to present his mysterious show, “Impossibilities,” featuring his famous “Rising Cards,” beginning in 1914. Not at all cold at 2:30am, I still got chills taking this picture, and thinking about all that happened here.

The Fechner/Proust films of Slydini (and supplemental materials) arrived today.

You won’t hear from me for a while.

The Tarot reading/chakra cleansing business with storefront offices right on the main drag in Basalt didn’t last long. I guess the locals here already had pretty clean chakras.

Yes, that is a moose, blocking traffic at dusk.

To open the 45th Aspen FilmFest, we put together a “Movies Are Magic” event, capped with a screening of Anomaly—where I finally got to see the finished film. It’s a terrific short, John Romeo is brilliant, and since I basically play myself, I think I came off pretty well. Thanks to all.

An unusual conference event I was fortunate enough to be included in: a kind of discussion, or conversation between myself, Michael Weber, Jason England and Derek Delgaudio, with an audience.

Panama City, Panama—a busking pitch I’ve never seen before. When rush hour traffic stops at this light, a juggler runs into the street, performs a 60 second club and ball routine (pretty good too!), and then walks up the row of cars passing the hat.
