The Electoral College exists precisely to give more power to rural states because of the way it is structured. Think about the numbers of electoral votes from each state. Does the Electoral College give a boost to rural states? Yes.

That's really insightful and profoundly true.

I would argue that federal centralization dating back to Reconstruction, then the world wars, then Johnson, etc. has caused rural people to *feel like* they've lost power.

Further, J.D. Vance is right about colleges incubating talent out of rural areas generation after generation.

The Constitution is working just fine. Among the co-equal branches, Congress is clearly superior and Congress can use its power anytime it wants.

To this guy:

We have an Electoral College for the same reason we have a Senate, which is to ensure power for rural people.

And we want to ensure power for rural people because most, though certainly not all, revolutions and insurrections start among rural unhappy people.

I mean, it's drivel not worthy of a community college continuing education class.

You don't have a First Amendment right to write crappy papers in college and not get criticized. It's insanity.

This essay was drivel. There's no First Amendment right here. What am I missing?

"Bush never traveled. He's unsophisticated."

Tom: "Bush traveled a lot."

You: "Bush traveled. He's unsophisticated."

Who is the unsophisticated one here? Be honest.
November 30, 2025 at 10:33 PM
The need among people on the left to feel that George W. Bush is stupid and unsophisticated is strong. Bush attended Phillips Academy, Yale, and the University of Texas. He also was elected governor of Texas.

It's a similar need with Trump, who has obviously been a brilliant con artist.

Impossible. You're Alice Fucking Radley.

Who could have predicted that Easter Island did not have an effective, single central government hundreds and hundreds of years ago? ;]

I'm rooting for the guy. I love confidence.

It does feel like we are about to see a Great Powers shift of some kind, and that does tend to mean war.

I didn't even know they had women missionaries.

Harris lost to Trump. She was a terrible candidate.

Her sex parts have nothing to do with her terrible candidacy.

Your entire worldview runs through a prism of identity. It is exactly the same as any racist.
November 24, 2025 at 7:18 AM
Goober, I voted for Harris and gave her and other Democrats more than you make in a few months.

Voters rejected Harris because, to voters overall, Trump was acceptable compared to Harris.
November 24, 2025 at 7:12 AM
Trump was the better candidate because voters chose Trump.

If Democrats want to beat dangerous loons who are tearing down our institutions, Democrats must nominate better candidates. Period.

Quit bitching and focus. It's important.
November 24, 2025 at 7:09 AM
Voters rejected Harris because voters do not like or trust Harris.

Harris got 1% of the Democratic primary vote when she ran in 2016.

She is not popular, and it has nothing to do with her skin color, or her sex parts, or her husband.

Stop.
