That is true for so many things; The social media refactor/reboot is just like the open web then vs now.

Now despite a significantly reduced audience some return to blogging — bringing back RSS feeds, or hand-coding as frameworks/dependencies can burden small sites.

It is best or even a must for headlines, but can be great to control unpleasant "rag" for paragraph blocks that aren't visually contained, like long overlaid (fig)captions on images.

Normally I'd cut/paste my Mastodon reply here (or vise-versa), but that's too long for BlueSky.

That said, stick with it and things will grow again. I too lost a lot when I left Twitter, but in the past year many Twitter holdouts ended up here or on Mastodon and it's all been growing again!

Also sometimes the relatively new text-wrap: balance works better.

I've learned that I might need some media-query help for narrow vs wide viewports, e.g. text-wrap: balance on vs off depending on your type sizing and viewport.

Happens to me a lot; CSS typography is wobbly and frustrates for years, then I hear about a obscure property that helps.

However, in "manual" design it's best to hyphenate at a phonetic word break — which automatic hyphenation doesn't do — which is sometimes worse than not having hyphens at all.

Forgot to add a link to the screen grabs I've made from those two Morrissey movies on a little Tumbler experiment I curated for over 10 years:

My introduction to Udo had to be seeing "Blood for Dracula" (1974) via USA's Night Flight; Paul Morrissey's sister alternative horror take to "Andy Warhol's Frankenstein".

Not much later I'd hear Udo as Dracula sampled on Skinny Puppy's "Brap", the last rack on '84's "Remission" EP.

What a legacy!

Update on the documentary I worked on: "What the Hell Happened" won Jury Award Honorable Mention & Local Audience Award at the Philadelphia Film Festival.

I wasn't able to attend, missing out on audience reactions to the humor I contributed in my animation.

I typically cite After Effect's Rotobrush v3 as one of the more helpful LLM-driven tools when it comes to saving hours of work...

...except that it seems mostly trained on "talking heads" and people in-general; Anything else is about as hit-or-miss as it ever was.

The writing quality on these SSN emails definitely decreased after the current administration took office; That italicized "Statement" formatting hits me like an unnecessary quotation.

Both species are supposedly pretty smart, but it was probably the local raccoon Crafy-Hands United Guild; You can't beat those tiny but dexterous blackened hands!
