Yeah but life experience has taught me there’s always that one guy…

About 12 million Americans need to say no to Trump/Musk/MAGA.

Hopefully his solution to any infected during a pandemic won’t be to just put them to sleep.

But this thread feels like it’s more about me than the work. So to reiterate, Song of Solomon is great and worth reading again (or the first time, if you never have) because its characters, it’s world, like all of Morrison’s work, feels alive and true.

So remember my fellow writers, readers know when you’re lying in your stories. And for anyone who says all fiction is just lies, you’re missing something if you don’t see the truth in great writing, the honesty, the humanity, the basic humanness that’s at the core of all fiction. (End)

And then after reading so many great books over the decades, it occurred to me that what makes writing great, what makes it worth reading is truth. That’s all Morrison did, is tell the truth about everything. So I started writing fiction again, trying to tell the truth. (Cont.)

Actually I paralyzed myself by the stupidly competitive thought that I could never create characters like that, could never bring written words to life like her, so I stopped writing fiction, stopped pushing myself, switched to journalism, to cheesy screenplays (all unfinished). (Cont.)

You deserved to be contacted, not sure why modern journalism does this kind of stuff. Esp since you’re also a great fiction author. I loved the Alchemy Wars series, plan to read more by you.

She sounded a lot like Jesus in that sermon. She pled with the President to be more compassionate, as we should all plead with each other, in all things. He has zero reason to be offended. He should agree with her, it’s him we should all be shocked by that he found offense in Christ-like language.

Did you read Tim O’Brien’s America Fantastica? Reminds me of some of the conversations in that. Excellent read, btw!

I’m sure the SEC will now be the first on DOGE’s list of what government agencies to eliminate.

I thought things were disappointingly ok with this election until Trump said he’s suing Ann Selzer. Like, huh? If she was just wrong, then let her be embarrassed. But why sue her? Weird.

Inexperienced writers should be encouraged to take writing classes or join writing groups for feedback, while reminded that pro writers have their own ideas, worlds., etc. And there’s always fan fic that has its place…

I just searched for WRSU randomly and I was there in the mid-90s and…I liked Cake Like. Was that wrong? I used to play their CD on my show “The Naked Show”.

Yes, but what about in organized crime where witnesses can be identified through publicized reports? I agree with you otherwise.
