Portland has elevated protesting to an art form.

We’ll get to a point where the descendants of classic film stars will license the likeness of their relatives and we’ll get new movies with Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. It’s just a matter of time.

The computer color was still done by a human. The computer itself did none of the creative work and made no decisions.

My particular job isn't in danger. I won't be replaced on Savage Dragon.

Remember reading science fiction about utopian societies where robot servants did the grunt work freeing us up to create art and poetry?

That's not happening.

Instead a few will get obscenely rich, A.I. will replace our jobs, and the planet will be made unlivable.

It's more of a dystopia, really.

On this, Banned Books Week, I can't suggest that you go out and read these previously banned books. They are subversive in their ideas of equality, empathy, and love.

If you'd prefer a book where Captain Marvel is isolated from the rest of DC--that's easy to achieve--just have the writer of the book not have characters meet. It's not as though there needs to be crossovers all the time anyways.

I think you ARE misunderstanding the thread. Different universes make crossovers complicated and repetitive because the same hoops need to be jumped through every time a writer wants characters to meet.

So--you're cool with him being in another universe so it's nearly impossible for him to meet other heroes but it's no fun if he lives in the same universe but doesn't meet other heroes?

He did early on in Whiz Comics. Captain Marvel appeared in a Spy Smasher story.

At its core--Captain Marvel was Tintin--a boy reporter who was surrounded by adults and acted as an adult. The difference is that this boy reporter could say a magic word that changed him into a superhero.

I'd just tell stories and not involve the DC universe. Let crossovers and team-ups exist in other books. Build his own world with the rest of the Marvel Family. I would definitely make Billy a reporter again. He needs his supporting cast, Mr. Morris, Talky Tawny, Joan Jameson, and the others.

Sure, but any writer could decide to have his solo book be self-contained and ignore the outside world. Batman essentially does that. We know he's in the Justice League but in his own book that's seldom mentioned. He never says, "I should bring the Martian Manhunter in on this case."

Superheroes don't have to hang out with each other. They do what writers have them do. Writers can decide any book is self-contained. Batman mostly exists on his own in the pages of Batman. There's seldom a stray thought about calling in Superman or the Justice League. Captain Marvel could do that.

It was silly to say they were in different universes to begin with. Want Captain Marvel to be isolated from everyone else? Don’t have them meet. I’ve never been in a room with Taylor Swift but that doesn’t mean we’re from different worlds.

That was the worst of the lot.

For my money, DC never did figure out what to do with this character.
