They absolutely could. But given that the man-to-be in power is prone to hissy fits when people don’t bend the knee, he might jot exclude them. Given that he seems to not understand what tariffs are, and he has power to apply them, doesn’t give me hope.

The “long game” is dumb because it’s not feasible for many of thing things we’ve already mentioned. Being independent isn’t dumb, but futilely trying just to try, wasting resources in the process, is dumb.
