Six years of my favorite art project we've ever made. Six channels of hyper-targeted TV.

This is why I watch movies. I want to be awed by sights and by sounds & shaken to my core by the vastness of emotion art is capable of. A reporter tries to solve the murder of a Bowie-esque glam singer and in doing so reflects on his own life. Bold. Daring. A knockout.

The queer art of failure. A story about the afterlife as ghosts compete to become urban legends so they're never forgotten. Hilarious and gory, it looks amazing, and it's packed with tributes to yokai, The Ring, and even Perfect Blue. A movie that loves horror & life.

Adam Sandler's best role. A story about being Autistic and living in a world where it feels like everyone but you has been told the rules of society, and how stressful it can be to feel out-of-step - and how amazing it feels when someone matches your pace. Transcendent.

Takashi Miike's vile fluid-filled story of a Yakuza tasked to kill his Brother is stomach-churning, challenging, and absolutely brilliant as it explores repressed homosexuality and the hoops men jump through to express connection with and affection for each other. Gozu, Gozu, Gozu.

I was lucky enough to watch this and The Two Towers (which I also loved) with a superfan friend. Life-changing experience. Peter Jackson's horror background was the secret sauce. A bold, beautiful epic that earns every minute. I love yaoi!

A breathless, paranoid watch that will have you searching the edges of the screen for Pod People as soon as characters start getting snatched. Gruesome special effects, absolutely terrifying atmosphere, & a thick layer of sweat and grime makes it tangible.

Pure punk rock ethos. Juggles many balls & keeps them in the air. A story about a man who captures a healthcare CEO because he thinks the CEO is an alien who will destroy Earth. It's grimy, it's tense, it's shockingly funny, and it's fucked up and so bleak. Awesome.

The leads are excellent as brothers that feel like brothers even as they meet up after a year apart. Secrets are uncovered as they take a beautiful train trip through India. At first, a comedy, but it morphs into something sadder and stranger, just how I like it.

What starts as a mystery as Mitsuko runs from a force that killed her classmates spirals into something metatextual, tackling the roles women are expected to play in society and in fiction. The heart of the movie is Aki, the only person who is with Mitsuko as she runs. Enthralling.

The best action. The best neurodivergent queer couple scenes. Wonderful chemistry between Akari Takaishi & Saori Izawa. Perfectly threads the needle of everything good about the last two movies to make something sweet and thrilling.

A woman is hypnotized to believe she's the star of a musical whenever she hears music, and now she wants to find the scammer who did it to change her back. Energetic & hilarious, a story of refusing stagnation. Great showtunes. Has the funniest scene I've seen all year.
