I and others have asked about this before, too, and the fact that it's been ignored does not increase my confidence about your office taking our requests into account when it's much harder to do so. I'm not trying to get on your case, but want to be honest with you about the message you're sending.

I am really glad you are sharing this, but can you please use alt text, especially when you're posting an image of text? When you don't do that, you are ensuring that some of your constituents can't understand what your message is.

SALUTE does a lot of what I'm trying to express, in part because it's asking you to be sure you understand what you're seeing. If we were all being disciplined about that, I don't know that I'd have much concern.

I don’t think it's too much to ask people who want to help this way in a community other than their own to also just remember that they are in someone's neighborhood and be thoughtful of that, though the graphic that prompted this all seems more like a weird distraction.

Yeah, I don't disagree and am not exactly trying to be anti-whistle. I do think that there's a way whistles are getting discussed in some places that make them sound like the "one weird trick" for defeating fascism and that might encourage a lot of people to charge in knowing only the whistle code.

So relying too much and too early on whistles can burn people out on what the whistle is trying to convey. Fwiw, I'm no expert but have always heard the "no whistles" thing as a "not yet" instruction. If the situation changes, the instruction could change.

I feel like a part of this I'm not seeing in the discussion much is that ICE is really hard to identify. I think that's worse in our region with so many government vehicles around. There's potential for a LOT of false positives from anxious people trying to help.
