"Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies — ‘God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.'” 🏳️‍⚧️

It looks like it was actually 11 kids out of 283 that they followed up with that stopped identifying as trans, or 4%—which is still wildly low!

Meanwhile, 28 of 285 kids that entered the study as cisgender now identified as trans or gender diverse on follow-up—10% of the cis kids were really trans!

I wanna die every time it happens. And every time you’re like “well, just gotta remember to pee beforehand next time” and then you never do.

Thank you! It’s a dress, actually!

I don’t know more than you do, but I am very plugged into online trans culture. While I’ve only been in transition for two years, I’ve followed online trans discourse for a decade (and know I’ve been trans for more than 6 years). I also read quite a bit of trans theory and history.

You’re absolutely right. Again, I apologize. I was just trying to share my own personal experience with people claiming the assimilationist title. I’m sorry to have bothered you here and gotten heated in the moment. I understand where you’re coming from and I’m sorry you’ve experienced what you have

Huh???? I never implied anything like that. I’ve gotten FFS and I’m currently recovering from SRS! I want to pass! I want to fit into society! I want to get married and have kids! I have no desire to police transness. My problem is with OTHER people policing transness!

I apologize. I didn’t mean to come off as antagonistic, though I see now that’s definitely how I came off. I just wanted to open a dialogue and got overzealous.
July 1, 2025 at 11:16 PM
I’m sure this was how it was once used, but the term has evolved in recent years to encapsulate those who police gender identity and expression, encouraging those on the margins to “fit in” or be pushed out. I think this might be a definitional issue more than anything.
July 1, 2025 at 11:15 PM
Um…people who use “passoid” are almost universally assimilationists, typically transmedicalists from places like 4chan. And it’s used as a term of jealousy, not an insult. I don’t mean to be rude, but…I don’t think you’re…”online” enough to understand this dichotomy.

Again, I don’t want to presume what you’ve seen. Each individual’s experience is unique. But I genuinely think you’re seeking these people out. Have I met people like you described? Of course. But I’ve met, or encountered, considerably more transmeds.
July 1, 2025 at 11:09 PM
I mean, that’s certainly possible. But, again, I’d like to reiterate that I do a lot of reading on trans history/trans theory and “assimilationist” is used pretty interchangeably with the form I’ve used in this exchange. I’ve never heard your definition, either.
July 1, 2025 at 11:06 PM
I’m sorry, but…have you never met a transmedicalist? Ever? Not once? Never even heard of one or seen one post online? Because those are assimilationists. They spend all of their time online policing non-passing or non-medically transitioning trans people. They’re far from scarce.
July 1, 2025 at 11:03 PM
I have never encountered this. Every anti-assimilationist I’ve met is open to all forms of the trans experience. And I understand if you have, but you need to understand that what you’re accusing me of is exactly what you’re accusing anti-assimilationists of.
July 1, 2025 at 11:01 PM
I’m not trying to say that describing an experience different from my own is wild, I’m saying there’s a good chance you may be living in a bubble. Are there anti-assimilationist gatekeepers? Yeah, probably. But your whole post is basically saying that anti-assimilationists are the REAL gatekeepers.
July 1, 2025 at 10:59 PM
For the record, when I mention “assimilationism,” I don’t mean “being cis-passing.” That’s my own personal goal, too! I mean believing that the essential goal of trans people, as a group, is to slot in perfectly to society and pass. That’s a horrific ideology.
July 1, 2025 at 10:25 PM
Quite frankly, attempting to cast anti-assimilationists as the gatekeepers is WILD. The only trouble I’ve ever been given during my transition is by LGBT assimilationists who hate that I don’t pass 100% of the time. And I’m not even that fringe! I’m a “normie” so to speak. No memes or online stuff.

Assimilationism is transmedicalism. Assimilationism is obsessing over “optics.” Assimilationism is punishing those who don’t conform to patriarchal, cishet norms. It’s the reason we have the “LGB without the T” and “TERF” movements to begin with..
July 1, 2025 at 10:17 PM
The issue with assimilationism is that it encourages subscribing to existing hierarchies like patriarchy in order to “fit in” to society. It defeats genuine social change. Further, assimilationists punish those at the margins for not performing queerness in a way that is “socially acceptable.”

Defeating this thinking is going to take generations, but I'd encourage women now to really think about the kinds of things that arouse them. You may find that direct stimulation (PIV, anal, etc.) doesn't even arouse you, and that you're only interested in things like painplay/exhibitionism/etc. 6/6

And I want to be clear on this again: it's not merely that women KNOW they have a paraphilia and are just too ashamed to act on it. Very often, they are completely ignorant of their feelings at all, and have buried them so deep they can't even recognize them for what they are. 5/6
