California is poised to save car buyers over $234 million and 8.5 million hours by making car dealers tell them the price up front. 🚗

KUDOS to @benallenca.bsky.social, @autosafety4all.bsky.social and @saalevine.bsky.social for getting this to @governor.ca.gov’s desk.

Killing the #CFPB’s rules to rein in junk banking and credit card fees will cost families $15 BILLION per year. @consumerfed.bsky.social

🚨Last year, fraudsters stole over $390 million from Americans via digital payment apps. That is a 200% increase from just a few years ago. 📈

We need a #CFPB that can keep up with innovative scammers and rein in big tech app providers. VOTE NO on SJ Res 28. @erie.bsky.social @savecfpb.bsky.social

Well. Four years of guidance for businesses about how to comply with #FTC law is now missing from the Federal Trade Commission’s website.

Tomorrow, Senators are voting on whether to kill the CFPB’s rule regulating big tech’s foray into finances. Vote NO on SJ Res 28.

Trump’s #CFPB and Acting Director Vought are neglecting military and veteran families who have been scammed and cheated, even though Congress requires the CFPB to help them.

This is a slap in the face for folks who put their lives on the line for our country. Absolutely disgraceful.

Another Trump-led corporate pardon today, this time for @TransUnion and its executive John Danaher for deciding to violate a 2017 CFPB Order after calculating that complying would hurt their revenue.

📸 2017 Order is on the left, 2022 complaint is on the right.

Lying is now legal as long as it’s “innovative.” Maybe the most offensive part of this is that Vought is concerned about a predatory lawbreaker laying off its workers when he (while breaking the law) fired the CFPB attorneys and staff who enforce the law.

Let’s be clear: Trump firing Rohit Chopra is a gift to big banks, big tech firms acting like banks, and corporate lawbreakers. Director Chopra put the wheels in motion for a future CFPB to *actually* lower costs for Americans instead of just paying lip service.

The #CFPB is the only federal agency with a statutory directive to protect #servicemembers, veterans and their families from financial abuse. When companies like LendUp target the #military community, the CFPB steps up and holds them accountable 🧵
