I mean if they come to me actively questioning their gender, I'll tell them they're probably trans and encourage them to explore themselves more, but I don't see that as going against the prime directive.

I'll be there for them, whether they're really an egg or not. I'll help them figure shit out, but I won't project my own feelings onto them.

For me it's literally that I won't tell someone I suspect is an egg that they're trans. That's up to them to determine themselves, and I won't pressure them, though I'm happy to help by talking about gender, sex, what it all means to me, my own experience, etc.

What does the "egg prime directive" mean to you?

Ok but hear me out: ebooks.direct/products/you... ;)

These books seriously got me through my early teen years, back when i lived on long island, and they still kick ass as an adult. The new editions perfectly bring everything up to a solid timeline but the originals still hold up as well.
Young Wizards "All The Wizardry" Bundle
This bundle contains all the Young Wizards material in the Ebooks Direct inventory. That's nineteen ebooks, containing: The nine New Millennium Editions of the main-sequence Young Wizards novels The ...

There’s not even really a molehill. That’s how propaganda gets you. The centrist instinct is to be like, “ok but surely there’s a little truth in what they’re saying” but there’s not. The abolition of DEI and civil rights protections is just an excuse to discriminate more openly.
January 24, 2025 at 8:52 PM
“you guys” is commonly gender neutral. “the other guy” is not. For some reason the plural is gender neutral but the singular isn’t. Language is weird.

I am always open to the possibility i am wrong. I am also aware of ineffective and virtue-signaling “DEI” programs used for marketing.
January 24, 2025 at 8:42 PM
The fascist right is building a strawman around DEI. Their arguments against DEI aren’t in good faith.

DEI *is* sensible measures to reduce bias. That’s all most of these DEI programs try to accomplish, nothing more, nothing less.

Snipe isn’t a “guy” and neither am i lol. You quoted her, so she engaged with you. You are profoundly *wrong* here but i’m willing to give you some grace since i know you personally. But it seems like you’re buying into the anti-dei racist/homophobic/transphobic/ablest propaganda.
January 24, 2025 at 8:26 PM
DEI programs are just meant to help avoid this behavior, nothing more than that. From a capitalist perspective, it’s just trying to create a diverse team to better serve a wider variety of customers and not alienate anyone.

But given a bunch of resumes who are equally qualified for a job, we know from tons of studies that people are statistically more likely to push forward the folks who are more like themselves.

i don’t know, ask them?
January 24, 2025 at 7:54 PM
It’s not punching up, it’s just community in-fighting, which super isn’t what we need right now, given how shit everything is at the moment.

Call out transphobes being transphobic by name, not other trans folks. And we shouldn’t encourage folks to be transphobic either, as much as caitlyn sucks.
January 24, 2025 at 7:27 PM
I’m a fan of your comedy. I think you’re really funny and pretty and i love recommending your work.

But the “deadname pass for caitlyn” post the other day and now making callouts of folks (who aren’t even talking shit, nor are they in your replies) like this is giving me bad vibes.
January 24, 2025 at 7:27 PM
Yeah i mean you can totally do whatever you want, but specifically looking for people talking about you isn’t necessarily healthy. And this kind of call-out post is a bit shitty. if they get harassed over this post (i hope they don’t) that’s even more shitty imo.

Race is still a big part of it, and that’s not “racist” in and of itself. In a racist world, yes, people do have different experiences and therefore can have different perspectives due to their perceived “race”. But again, it’s intersectional.
January 24, 2025 at 7:04 PM
This. DEI programs basically attempt to get folks to address their unconscious biases. Otherwise, people tend to want to hire or listen to people who are more like them, leading to huge blind spots.

It’s intersectional, not just about race.
