I've had the same thing happen to me; had like 11 events registered in one day due to power issues in my area at the time

It's the power in your complex or to your complex. The UPS is made to supply stable power to whatever is plugged into it, so if you have a power outage or a voltage drop it will switch to battery mode to ensure your devices get stable power.
