The EU nations aren't going to damage their economies for the edification of the rest of the world.

AI will work in the office while we do stuff LLMs can't do... Like toilet cleaning.

Europe and China are partners in transitioning from energy as a resource (oil/gas/coal) to energy as a technology - windmills, solar.

That puts Europe and China in opposition to the US, Russia and Gulf states.

I’m sure he’s doing it to troll Trump, but not sure how exactly…

Starmer should invade the Isle of Wight, station thousands of troops on the beach and blow up a Post office or two. Fox should be there to report it all. Then Trump will respect him.

Dangerous moment for Starmer and the UK. If the EU forces a US climbdown, it's not obvious that the UK would be included.

In my experience, the engineers may indeed be working to make everything internalally perfect, but the business people are tearing their hair trying to get the engineers to focus on their customers' needs.

They are platforms. They shouldn't be liable for their user's legal content. They should have effective moderation that swiftly removes illegal content. Governments should Police them properly.

They are getting away with bad shit. They are being allowed to get away with bad shit.

Anyone gonna ask the Whitehall press corps if it's appropriate for them to keep posting on a site that's under investigation by Ofcom for publishing child sexual abuse materials?

I think there’s something in that. If you only read English news your viewpoint is subtly different. I used to get irritated at people who think the EU/Euro is on the verge of collapsing. Now I think it’s normal to think that if you consume British media (even the Guardian.) E.g Politico EU is bad.

If you have scrolled past a CASM image on the algorithmic feed, you have committed a crime.

They have to post on X so someone can screenshot it and post that on BlueSky

I see it as Trump saying you can do what you like in your backyard. Putin sees Europe as his backyard. Not good news for Ukraine or Taiwan.
January 3, 2026 at 12:03 PM
Can you imagine the UK still in the EU, acting as Washington's voice at the table with Trump in the Whitehouse??!!??

IMO, PR is long overdue. I would welcome it, no matter the consequences for the major parties.
December 27, 2025 at 11:39 AM
Labour voters are comfortably pro-EU. The Labour itself is historically Eurosceptic and currently half and half. The Labour and Conservative coalitions would probably dissolve if we got PR.

12th? Who's 12th?

Look at X? No thanks! If you're selling/communicating this to boys and young men or a skeptical press, a few Premier League footballers wouldn't go amiss. Also, Jess Philips. She has been doing a lot of work in this area as long as I can remember. She is a knowledgeable and passionate person.

If the policy is misogyny awareness lessons for boys, why would you use female celebrities to roll it out?
December 19, 2025 at 11:49 AM
This is a symptom of not making the positive case for joining the EU.
December 16, 2025 at 8:42 AM
I don't think the British public understands that the UK takes rules. In my opinion, any grudging acceptance of going into a CU will fall apart as soon as it is understood. Any consensus for joining the EU will unravel as soon as Britons realize that French will have a referendum about letting us in
December 16, 2025 at 8:40 AM
The Turkey arrangement "requires Turkey to align with EU customs tariffs, commercial policy, competition rules, and technical standards for covered goods."

Turkey takes the rules.

Is there a CU version where the UK can shape the rules?

If not, talk about a CU is a non starter.

If you don't want us to vote for Labour, fine. Happy to vote Lib Dem or Green. Labour in coalition with those parties is now my most preferred outcome in the next election.
