I think the crucial difference is that's a fairly online way for cons to talk to each other that doesn't really come into contact with the mainstream con, whereas the language Dave is describing isn't contained to Twitter or message boards.

A lot of why people don't "understand" is because all the evidence points to an electorate that voted for a bigoted sex offender, not in spite of those things, but indifferently or because of those things, and liberals don't want to admit that about the electorate.

I think it's less a question of how bad he'll be (he'll be bad) but more a question of how reversible the damage will be when/if his party is out of power

People just need to be better? Like what would it matter if democrats win a Trifecta in 2028, country cannot be sustained with half the electorate wanting a return to America pre ww1

It's a fun action game, not much in terms of an upgrade. Feels like they were aiming for that ME2 sweet spot and just completely missed the RPG side of it

I agree, but it's pretty hard to fight when one side is led by a man with cult like devotion from his followers and there's no remote equivalent to that on our side

And it's frustrating reading op-eds from people who clearly actually are completely out of touch with these cultures insisting that we'll fix it by just understanding them more.

I don't even think this is an echo chamber. Or if it is the echos are all fighting. I see a dozen posts a day of someone screenshotting an account saying "ugh THESE people are coming here" and you check out the account and they both share like 95% of the same positions.

Blending in with the conservatives I'm surrounded by has been truly eye opening with how shamelessly they will sexualize young teenage girls in day to day conversation
