i don’t think it’s a societal problem that young people tend to want to be able to write down things they aren’t ready to say to another person! that’s normal. it’s a societal problem that the place they’re likely to want to write them down might encourage them to kill themselves

"Smart enough to get into college" is not a thing outside of a relatively small group of intentionally selective schools. Many colleges will take anyone with the required money (or credit score). Most large state universities have undergraduate acceptance rates over 50%, even UC Davis is over 40%.
