I grew up watching & listening my step-mom be transported by listening to Roberta Flack’s albums, with big 70s headphones, singing along in full voice, it took her to another dimension. I probably would not do the same thing, often with the same songs, if it weren’t for her. My favorite version:

I have a fruit washing machine. There isn’t a dishwasher in my Airbnb, but my stay is nearly five months, so I bought a countertop version. It has a fruit washing cycle! I like my peppers and strawberries squeaky clean.

Rode my bike to Breeze Block Garden at Historical Society Palm Desert. TIL what breeze block is. I’ve heard the term forever, just never knew what it was. Yay for learning. Here are a few of the 12 variants they have in the garden.

This is how I keep from using my mascara too long. Getting my money’s worth from the $300 precision cutting machine I had to have. #cricut #crafting

So long, Marianne. RIP. Her passing turned me on to her starring in, "The Girl on a Motorcycle." Apparently, She's Always Naked Under Leather.

Spent President's Day on my crappy Airbnb patio listening to raunchy surf garage, drinking mango Arnold Palmers, reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt, and drawing this picture.

Recently finished my first Didion, "Play It As It Lays." I hated reading it. Wording unpleasant, characters awful, narrative depressing as hell. Can't stop thinking about it. In this doc, she discusses "character" and being responsible for one's life. Truly bracing how blunt she is about her own.

Things I recently learned about Bonnie Tyler née Gaynor Sullivan: Welsh, 5' 3", lives in Portugal, 73 years old. Her voice is that way because she screamed while recovering from voice nodule surgery in 1977. "Total Eclipse of the Heart" was written by Jim Steinman to showcase her voice. But also...
