A lovely day on friends farm in my home county of Woodford (Ky) They’ve restored native grasses across much of their 80 acres. I was captivated w the tall deep-rooted Indian blue-stem grass. perennial warm-season bunchgrass in the sorghum family -the main roots are 6–10 ft deep!

central/south appalachia is a top 5 biodiverse region in the world - and why i take the long way as i travel to work with farmers, visit family & friends along the highways byways of KY, NC, TN, VA. This cloud bank moving slowly over the last ridges of southwestern VA into Cumberland Gap, TN.
