And with it being much much less of an audience participation thing

Part of just not acknowledging things as they are, ever

No tonty fan but he did manage to be reasonably popular much of the time, something no pm/gov't has managed since. Related: would you imagine Cameron's gov was always unpopular given the way they discuss that era?

In 2015, it was obvious to me that stopping Eastern Europeans from entering the country was a cipher for deporting black & brown people that have been in the UK for generations.

I knew that because people were literally saying that out loud at the time.

This is not news, this was the next step.
Deporting ethnic minority Britons was the goal of Brexit for many

I am begging people to stop using "black hole" which no one understands and is at best misleading

As far as I can tell the reeves argument is "the uk is 6 seconds away from being greece 2009 at all times" and i do not think it is true and it does not instill confidence if it is

"We will cut taxes and magic things will happen" is actually less crackpot than "we will obey an arbitrary set of fiscal rules based on forecasts, the methodology of which we try to influence behind the scenes, and magic things will happen"

it is odd. going after "sillier-sounding" humanities degrees has long been been a game but English is probably the one people like! it's english! shakespeare and all that!

A bit like labour taking swipes at silly countryside/nature preservation stuff. that's all pretty english!

and none of the promised 'competence' or 'adults in charge' either

but also they aren't even doing 'continuity rishi' - they're being bigger bastards - and that story comes through quite loudly!

'strong story' ok

labour did flag shagging (uk, not english) in 2021, told all the hacks they were doing flag shagging, the hacks wrote a lot of pieces about how flag shagging was brilliant, and then slowly over time they just... forgot to shag the flag

The thing about being an authoritarian petrostate, you probably need the petro part

It really is encouraging range rover to build a plant in chennai instead of coventry

Curious if he has ever expressed support of protesters beyond "this is the wrong policy." At some point "cunts to my left, cunts to my right," especially when the cunts to your right run the government, just doesn't mean anything. Pick a side, pal

Funny I didn't realize he was that old.

A songwriter should understand the very simple thing that if he has to add a message to his flag to make the point he thinks he is making, he isn’t actually just hanging a flag. It is actually a rejection of it, just one too subtle and pointless

Right. Multiple presale vinyl versions...

I am generally in the "if we judged pop music by its lyrics we would all look silly pretty quickly" camp, tho that isn’t to say good lyrics don't exist or can't be important, but if the tunes were any good the shit lyrics would be less noticeable

Aside from this (real) stuff, responding to "one side" declaring "we love love flags" with "no we are the true lovers of flags" is so fucking stupid

Almost every one of these freaks has a humanities degree

I was thinking the taylor backlash was getting silly - bad album, who cares - but the degree of prerelease marketing/ merchandising is pretty gross

“We don’t have to approach and criticize this album as art, because it isn’t art. The Life of a Showgirl is made of Shein quality rip-offs of other people’s songs that are constructed shoddily and sold in ginormous quantities. Art takes time and care. This is profit. It’s content.”

WHEW.

The packages arrived square and thin and carefully wrapped on Saturday afternoon. There were three of them, but only one was mine. If I could have rejected my package, sent it back from whence it came...
