she would survive long enough to bring delight to at least one or two souls who also wandered theae woods.

I nestled her in and packed snow around her base as I had done in the previous locations. This time she seemed pleased with my selection and she stayed put.

I rearranged her spiky crown again and took some photos.

I was a little sad to leave her behind but I hoped that

she took yet ANOTHER tumble and all but two of her crown spikes came loose. This time, I had to dig into the snow to find what I could because she looked pretty silly.

She seemed determined to perish or come home with me.

Finally I found two saplings that had bent to cross and touch the earth.

and tumbled to the ground, losing her head AGAIN. Another sun spike buried under the snow.

I kept an eye out for the same plant, but never found another.

Clearly she wasn't happy with my choices.

As we traveled on, we came to an intersection.

I tested a tangled bit of brush with some interesting webby roots, but she struggled to get out of there as soon as she could.

Then I found a broken sapling that functioned as a post and I started packing snow around her base with my bare hands.

Just as I thought she was stable, she broke free

Ahem. On the way back, I decided to give her a skirt of ash leaves (maybe?). I think her head fell off at least once while doing that.

Then while carrying her, I lost her head again. And one of the pieces of her crown.

I finally was able to give her a second eye.

Now to find a home.

The placement of the first eye went well. The second not so much.

I decided she wasn't well situated anyway and took her long to pick a new eye. I managed to find my way back to the berries.*

* a little note on this park. I've been coming over a year. And I get lost. Every time. It IS 196 acres.

The funny story behind this snow goddess is that originally I made a simpler version with just the arms and the crown. And I nestled her into the lap of a tree on the path.

Further on, I found some berries on a bush. So I picked two and went back to give her some eyes.

Well.

Thank you for your kind words. My mom has been gone now about 18 years. She was an amazing woman.

My mom had to be awake because of her heart issues. She was a tough old bird!!

The procedure is painless if you don't remember it.

I also woke up during my heart cath. Not fun. Not fun at all. I think both times I managed to get out about 7 "OWs" (as in OWOWOWOWOWOWOW") before they gave me more anesthesia.
