tune in to my website sometime this week to see my kid's drawings; much excitement when I mentioned it is goblin drawing week

Even the cheap ones from lidl are better!! This could be rose colored glasses, but I bet I'd be able to tell in a blind test

(other highlights of that trip include a bunch of Asian tourists admiring my knitting at kinderdijk and constantly being embarrassed cuz I apparently clocked as dutch enough to keep confusing people when I only spoke English)

I think stroopwafel was the thing that Changed Me the most when visiting the Netherlands. The ones here are fine and even Great but not nearly transcendent

stroopwafel,,,

(the carseat's a Safety 1st Gro and Go EverFit, the fruit snacks were motts 'cuz *I* like them, lol)
January 22, 2026 at 9:35 PM
Everyone wants the little kids to board first, which was quite nice, esp with the carseat, but getting off was much harder since everyone wants to Go Go Go.

In general I didn't feel like we needed anything extra or more than what we'd want on a long car ride, but they were only cross-US flights!

and I mostly remember carrying everything/navigating airports 🤷

Entertainment was Daniel Tiger on an ipad plus some small toys. Turned out our kid *loved* flying, and that made the whole process much easier, but who can really know that first time??
January 22, 2026 at 9:35 PM
When we flew with a 3 year old we:
- brought our regular carseat for her to sit in
- brought some fruit snacks for something to chew during takeoff (didn't need 'em except for hunger)
- I think we brought an umbrella stroller?--one parent was the luggage hauler, the other was the child mover

I looove the respect and joy she gives by spending so much time on the textiles and woodworking and camel shaving etc; she draws it all so gloriously and it's entrancing and wonderful

I saw a post that said "End ICE for Good" and it's been in my head ever since; 10/10 no notes

size of cap and amnt of current should set how quickly the LED lights, size of cap and possibly its material sets how long it takes to fade? Probably able to sequence several as well to tweak behavior, I'm no electrical engineer 🤷
December 25, 2025 at 4:20 PM
I'm entirely theoretical re: designing circuits more complex than switch matrices but this does sound exactly like what a capacitor can do: closing the switch charges the capacitor>once full, LED after it lights>once empty LED fades. I believe the switch has to be open to fade

Coming back to this now that we got a chance to see it--MAN was that such a good scene.

Lighting changes between cold/dark and warm sun in the church all ruled, too

what is a spoon but a shoe for your... yeah ok never mind
December 6, 2025 at 11:57 PM
Their new archaeopteryx display is super good too!! Scale models, a giant video display and a enlarged fossil you can touch. I wanna say the mold and its opening coincide but assuming they haven't moved the machines the molderama is outside the entire dinosaur/early earth history wing iirc?

I know they're both direct drive, but I think they did redesign several parts of the hotend assembly for the A1 so I'm sure there's differences... but how much they'd affect ironing I know not
November 21, 2025 at 12:26 PM
I don't remember where I found my ironing settings but somewhere someone said "I've got the best P1S ironing settings ever" and they were right, lol. I can send them next time I'm at the computer if you want
