Become a Tigers fan for one game, we have... um... Tommy Kahnle. And Gleyber. We're basically the 2024 Yankees

What little freelance gigs I've gotten through my career was because of social media, and I met my best friend because of Twitter.

So. That's cool.

Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?

Yes, you kill the cult, but that entire game is wrapped in rural, small town Americana taking care of their own, how cities are bad, and oh it also ends with the world being nuked.

My point, a lot of that game's thesis is "Hey, cult leaders sure are charasmatic and sexy, yeah?".

Important to note. Ubi had no issues with Far Cry 5, a game that glorifies right wing bootstrapping and and empowers cult of personality but absolutely had to kill a game in the crib about something real, tangible, and important like how the post Civil War era affects us even to this day.

I really hope as soon as this game ends the Tigers announce that the hitting coach has been fired

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

This thread is going to serve as my unofficial review of Hades 2 since I don't write anywhere.

SCORE: 4/5

Thesis: Hades 2 is a game that carries the burden of needing to be the sequel to one of the games that defined the COVID lockdown era, and collapses under the weight of 'More' at the end.

They interviewed AJ Hinch on camera earlier and after the announcer desk said "Now we want to let everyone know that they are under no obligation to appear on camera while they're losing."

Woof

There's still plenty of churches in PC USA that are very not liberal, sadly. I quit an 70,000 job at one because it got so bad.

Did they do some good? Sure. Bought almost a million dollars on medical debt one year.

But it was a drop in the hat.

I worked for the Presbyterian church for two years, I'm not shocked. The ones that are good that basically ignore the national church all want to be middlecor the road types publicly but are super right wing internally.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.
