« vCircTrappist » : derrière ce nom original, se trouve un outil qui marque un tournant dans la recherche en virologie. Développé par un consortium de l’UNamur, l’ULB et l’ULiège, dont le doctorant Alexis Chasseur, membre de l’institut Narilis de l’UNamur et de l’institut Karolinska (Suède), cet outil permet d’identifier de manière fiable et sans biais les ARN circulaires générés par une large gamme de virus pathogènes, notamment les herpès virus, les adénovirus, les rétrovirus, les virus de la leucémie et ceux de la grippe…
