An airport in Los Angeles was completely without an air traffic control unit for several hours yesterday. That’s just the first such report of an effect this shutdown is having on the country.

Now tell those ATC’s that they won’t ever be paid. WTF is going on?

OMB has deleted the reference on its website to the 2019 law that mandates back pay to all federal workers who were not paid during a government shutdown. This is like when babies play hide and seek but only cover their eyes because if they can’t see you, you can’t see them.

Online workspace asks if I want to enable notifications. Reluctantly, I say yes. Workspace AI sends immediate notification saying, “Nice, notifications enabled.” And this is exactly why I was reluctant to allow notifications.

The hardest part about the past decade for me has been realizing just how many people will simply never care. Your neighbors could get hauled away and you’d just shrug and carry on. We’re on a razor thin edge right now, soldiers are patrolling our streets, every speech is a declaration of war against our own citizens, and as long as nothing changes for you in the immediate, you don’t care. Our culture taught you selfishness, algorithms taught you hate and apathy, and history taught you nothing.

Ok. So. A lot of congress will say they “submitted a letter to forgo pay during shutdown.”

Congress is paid once a month so they have 30 days. Secondly, they want you to believe they are saying they will give up their pay. No. They just hold it until it reopens
