Portrait of a Redpoll. These birds always seem a bit nippy, as they tend to be fluffed up when visiting my garden. Mostly in winter, mind you, so it makes sense.

Acrylics on matte board
5.1″ x 5.1″ (13 x 13 cm)

Small acrylic painting of a redpoll. The bird is depicted full body, not its feet, facing to the left, so its reight side is visible. The head of the bird has a bright red patch. The feathers are brownish on top of the wings and on the head, the stomach is a greyosh white. It has stripey spots all over its body. The background is a mixture of browns and beiges. The paintings is in loose strokes, yet detailed

Oystercatchers are such handsome birds, with their black and white tuxedo feathers, and beautiful red and orange beak, eye patch and legs. They probe the wet sand for, you guessed it, oysters other mollusks.

Acrylic painting of an oystercatcher, showing the head and upper body of the bird. The animal is with its back towards the viewer, its head turned towards the left. Its beak is bricht read, the head and back black and the staomach white. Brushstorkes are loose, yet there is much detail in the bird. Background is darkish blue grey.

Painting of a male greenfinch. The background is a mottled warm grey, brushstrokes visible. There are some white dots like faling snow flakes. The bird is a bright greenish beige, and turned towards the viewer. It looks quite angry, due to the angle of the beak and eyes. The painting is quite detailed
