If only there was some way to remove the pollution of 500,000 cars! Some way of massing transit so people had to drive less! Maybe we could dream bigger than 500k, and *not engage in eugenics.* and! If we make the air cleaner, people with asthma will be better off too!

It’s really hard to describe to people who are not artists how survival mode does *not* inspire creativity, as the myth would have us believe. It suppresses creativity as you try to limit every possible risk – and the opportunities that come with them.

So we gotta fix what was broken. Better, more secure against bad actors. Returning to old norms just lets those people exploit the same weaknesses.

If we build new, better systems and protections, while jettisoning the harmful things that we have been saddled with, we’ll have a better world.
