That was a bit of a nightmare. I would keep pushing phases by damaging too much and it would throw timings off.

The honest reason I don't have microtransactions/season pass/ads/100 DLCs/etc in Balatro isn't just about the ethics of those practices but because when I play other games that have those things it makes me want to put my computer in the dishwasher and set it to pots & pans

Sometimes dealing with people, when all you want to do is implement something relatively simple in code.. can be so draining.
Over-engineering solutions is such a big problem in the space regardless of how many years of experience you have.
