I've been saying to Russians I argue with that what Americans would do differently, and that's target logistics and starve an area of supplies before sending an armored spearhead. Looks like the Russians are learning the lesson at least in part. www.wsj.com/world/russia...

Operation Northwoods was a proposed false flag operation which originated within the Department of Defense of the US government in 1962. The proposals called for Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operatives to both stage and commit acts of terrorism against US military and civilian targets, blame them on the Cuban government, and use them to justify a war against Cuba. The possibilities detailed in the document included the remote control of civilian aircraft which would be secretly repainted as US Air Force planes,[2] a fabricated 'shoot down' of a US Air Force fighter aircraft off the coast of Cuba, the possible assassination of Cuban immigrants, sinking boats of Cuban refugees on the high seas,[3] exploding a US ship, and orchestrating terrorism in US cities.[2][4] The proposals were rejected by US President John F. Russian military is spectacularly incompetent. However, this is just a PR victory. At least ukraine has something to show for losing a stronghold unlike all the SU-34s it claimed to shoot down after they lost Avdiivka.

Satellite images show multiple destroyed positions and suggest more of the 12 launchers on site may also be damaged.
