I abhor identity politics and call it out where ever I see it. That includes the progressive left and Trumpist right. Let everyone else live in peace.
That's the problem with the progressive left in the US. All they care about is petty racial identity politics, not actual real world threats like climate change.

There's a reason your father's family migrated from Mississippi in the 1940s.
Prior to WW1, the vast majority of ADOS lived in the Black Belt Southern states for obvious reasons. If they want reparations so bad then go whine to states like Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, & South Carolina.

The only people that whine about 'whataboutism' are those that don't like being called out on their own hypocrisy.

Disease killed far more and was much more instrumental in the indigenous population loss. Besides, it's not like slavery and warfare was some novel concept introduced to the various 1st American tribes by the Europeans.

If it wasn't for disease and native allies, neither Pizarro, or Cortez, would have conquered large empires like the Inca or the Nahuatl speaking city-states of the Mexica (Aztecs).

You mean like the 'Trail of Tears' (1831) where the five "civilized" tribes of the Southeast were relocated to the Oklahoma territory along with their black slaves?
March 12, 2025 at 12:24 AM
The 1st Americans (humanity is not native to the Americas) died in mass from old world diseases for which they no immunities. In many cases, this was before a specific tribe had contact w/ Europeans. To define it as genocide would require an element of being deliberate of which there were none.

Dude, we all f*cking 'code switch' in the presence of racial/ethnic/cultural company which defines the modern workspace. Each one of us comes from different culture and must learn to navigate a work environment that is not our own. I thought you would have learned that in the USAF🤷‍♂️

If society is so far in debt that it can't pay it bills then affects everyone. If climate change gets to the point that it creates an inhospitable planet then that affects human society/civilization regardless if some marginalized group feels that they've been disrespected.

Well, according to that Pew Research report, you're only 6% of the public, 7% of registered voters, and only 12% Democrats/liberal leaning....

Doesn't look like the #s are on the side of the Jacobin wing of the party.

The term 'identity politics' is vague and up for interpretation. This means I can define it how ever I see fit...just like you. As I previously stated, issues like fiscal responsibility and environmental protection involve everyone in society as a whole, not just some marginalized group.

Really? Is fiscal responsibility identity politics? Is the environment identity politics? These issues affect everyone in society, not just some marginalized group. Face it...the perpetually aggrieved progressive left is no different than the Trumpist right.

Meanwhile, "nearly 3,500 first-graders from 73 schools across Iowa will join the 19th African American Read-In hosted by University of Northern Iowa College of Education as a free, virtual event Thursday." Most, I'm guessing, are not black.

It was their choice over fear of losing federal funding, not state. I guess they cared more about the almighty dollar than making sure their black students feel good about themselves.

I suspect that 'margin' larger than you think is...ignore at your own risk.

Also, the flip side of coin is the perpetually aggrieved progressive left blaming racism/White supremacy for social ills that afflict marginalized groups.

Ah, yes...using racism as an excuse for everything. Such an easy cop-out.
