It's an op. Well several ops by several countries who have interests in America failing. It's also an attempt to generate revenue by some individuals. Then there's the very few people who believe this who would be invisible online if it weren't for the ops.

What did I defend?

"Sir! Sir! Is it because reporting on governments with large majorities is boring for journalists who have no interest in policy so they create an atmosphere of crisis to generate clicks?"

Miller is the de facto President. Trump is too senile and too disinterested to run the country so leaves it to him. Proof includes that when Trump says something vaguely conciliatory about immigration Miller slaps him down. I don't understand why the Dems don't admit it and run against it.

Ballywalter. Patrick Kielty might not be the best actor but it's a good film about low level comedy that passed most people by.

I think the one difference is the genuine independence of our judiciary. You'd need primary legislation to overcome that, which is straightforward enough if you've got a parliamentary majority, but the speed would be very different.

"Unrest has killed..."? That's what has killed people? Not the Iranian regime?

"Call us murderers and we'll murder more of you"

Legally no need. Diplomatically there might be every need. I don't know because I have no idea what our intelligence/diplomats say the up and downsides might be. And "elaborate dishonesty"?

And of course this US administration is entirely traditional...
January 5, 2026 at 8:33 AM
And the US Secretary of State has said the US will not run Venezuela and that it's a police action. Pretending that there isn't contradictory information and justification out there isn't really helpful.

Should they be announcing a preliminary view in the absence of all the facts when to do so might have serious consequences and when their view might change? What precisely is the utility of that, other than indulging the pundit class?
January 5, 2026 at 7:47 AM
Surely news isn't about imparting opinion in any event. It's about imparting facts. There are objective facts to be reported. America could really do with a news organisation who will do so consistently, rather than reporting the controversy.

It's really REALLY important to realise that not all of those "people" claiming to blame Democratic leaders are in good faith. Some will be bots. Some will be engagement farmers. Some will be (potentially state sponsored) bad actors designed to create factions in the opposition to Trump.

Because American exceptionalism is so much better and hasn't led to America running an apartheid system for the vast majority of its existence?

Would he have been barred? None of the things he was charged with led to an automatic bar from running for office, as I recall. Is anyone seriously studying that Jack Smith didn't do his job?

That is the thread: Trump campaigns on releasing the files; the Trump administration (TA) discovers the files have a lot of Trump; TA fights tooth and nail to prevent release of anything from the files; TA moves convict to soft jail to say precisely what they need; TA releases files with Clinton

Apparently I can't spell and it should be commutation!
December 20, 2025 at 10:17 AM
I'm sorry to hear that. It does explain a lot. I won't trouble you or your affliction further.
December 19, 2025 at 9:16 PM
Are they your model? Because I don't think the race to most arbitrary use of power ever suits any liberal ends. There are plenty of places in place to enable you to punish those responsible
