I think James Gunn cares too much about animals to do that. But I also think if it were his last film in the franchise like GOTG 3, he might do it for a quick emotional stab.

Been collecting this run because I love Predator but man that first issue gave me such an ick I haven't finished it. Kraven jobbing out the GotG pissed me off enough I had to put it down. But, like you said, it's par for the course (Deadpool kills does the same thing to me)

The recent Godzilla one has been pretty fun from what I've read. But I think part of the fun has been the lack of "urg so edgy" moments. Granted, i Haven't finished it yet so it may be a stinker by the end.
