I think Western Flycatcher has replaced Red-Breasted Nuthatch as my favorite bird. I like its distant call when on a walk. #birds

Reminds me of that scene in Interstellar. Shoot, now I have to go collect that on Blu-ray.

Guess who else was hanging out by the water with the birds? It appears the big guy was breaking up a disagreement between the other two. #mammals #raccoons

While exploring the Union Bay area by UW, I heard the call of a Virginia Rail. I froze for 30 minutes hoping the bird would show itself. Sure enough, right as I turn to leave, the small bird pops out of the marshy shoreline to pose for a photo. Then scurries off...

New record! I got an RFP for video production from an enterprise-level client for... $5. No joke. I see the $50 and $100 ones now and then, but one for less than the price of a sandwich?

While on vacation this weekend west of the Puget Sound, I heard some unusual bird calls (short, sharp, rising, single notes). It took the evening and the next morning to finally see them. Western Wood-Peewee! Western Flycatcher!

When you honk the horn on your car, where does the sound come from? Never occurred to me to think about where on the car that brrrrrrrt sound is originating. Or how. A speaker? Is it mechanical? How can I install one of those fun horn tunes? #fridaythought

Saw hundreds of Sanderlings the other morning. They would run away at any movement and at the sound of the shutter, so I found a spot to sit still and set the camera to its silent electronic mode. After a little while, they were running up to within about ten feet.

Okay I snorted out loud at this and probably broke the concentration of a few people. I'm in the quiet zone!
It's that time again. I made this comic a few years ago, and now I hear people using the phrase "weird duck time" without knowing where it came from, which makes me happy beyond words. Here's to the season of spectacular ducks 🪶
