Sorry for the depressing thread after being away for ages lol, I’m just having very strong feelings about birds and conservation right before bed…

As an invertebrate ecologist, the pain and frustration is immense. Mostly though, these stories always remind me of the last Kaua’i ‘ō’ō - the story of the last individual left in the world, calling for a mate who will never come forever haunts me.
