It is definitely a signifier (“I can’t remember a lick of undergrad physics“), but these guys didn’t invent it.

My pet peeve is when people introduce classes with examples like “Dog has a bark() method and inherits from Animal!” Your example of Checkout is excellent for all the reasons Dog and Car are not.
