I think not the NYT by itself Erin, not that u r suggesting that. The Dem establishment has made a decision to placate the right wing vote inside their party in many ways , including trans rights erasure and the NYT is just pushing their agenda .
NYT is not a policy group, they just follow along.

The NYT is following on the footsteps of the Democratic establishment , they'll do whatever it takes to support the agenda of politicians like Newsom, especially when there is such a small minority of people that they do not fear will have political consequences for them .
