they def didn't use the machine translation, there is no way google translate could ever come up with "вот в чём вся хрень"
i don't think they just used machine translation, btw, i just think the translator probably doesn't speak russian as their primary language

clairebell is such a nice-looking show, but damn, they really needed another half a year in the writing room, because it's a complete mess...

also, it's kind of weird how they obviously got someone who speaks russian fluently to teach him how to speak, but didn't get a native to look over the lines of dialogue in russian... a lot of them sounded off to my ear, even if technically grammatically correct
the guy who plays Ilya in HR has such a good russian pronunciation...there are some slips, but still, it's very good. most international students around me don't even pronounce things that well, even one guy who is getting his phd and who studied russian fro 8-ish years
