Apparently it’s called a lunar corona. It forms when thin clouds with uniform water droplets scatter the light from the Moon at different wavelengths—creating a diffraction pattern of concentric colored rings or gradients.

I’m impressed with this lens! It seems to be sharper than my Helios-44-2; and in my experience, it swirls more readily—or perhaps more obviously due to its larger cat eye bokeh.
