I understand your argument, but I think most of these things happened before the 8 Democrats voted against their "leadership." I also think that the lack of any real tangible gains is going to make messaging around it even harder. Some voters will have to be won back for next fall.

I think it was a big mistake and Schumer needs to take a back seat at this point. I understand some of them think they walked away with small wins they could get, but I just don't know how you look the public in the eye and convince them that the longest government shutdown ever was worth it.

Yep... that's $900 that Tom won't be able to spend in the community each month next year. Seems like it was worth really fighting for. Also, saw you on the Daily Show this week and you were great! Thanks for your voice! My grandpa was a SWPA WW2 vet and would have been proud.

You know what's truly not a compelling argument for everyday Americans who just went through the longest government shutdown of all time? "Now the Republicans are going to have to do several things they would have done anyway AND we get to hold a special vote in the Senate that won't go anywhere."

What happened in Texas is horrendous. It's also important to talk about why it was as bad as it was.
