The word "baked" is the past tense of "bake"; the -ed is the common inflection for past tense on verbs, in this case, "bake," which comes from the Old English verb "bacan." The word "naked" is completely different; it's an adjective, and it comes from the Old English adjective "nacod."

I like that observation. Vettriano had fancy people in fancy clothes on a starkly clean stage. That's definitely the antithesis of my scenes.

Thank you for the compliment, but that handsome young man would certainly not be from my family. Our menfolk, including me, are cursed with ugly. This painting comes from my false memories of living in another century, in a place of modest means and romances that lasted lifetimes and beyond.
