I saw someone on Xiaohongshu suggest that the protagonists in ZA might be the ones from HGSS.
I think the idea might be plausible, especially considering they have their key stones before choosing their starters, so they seem to already be trainers.

I just finished replaying pokemon shield. The story is worse than I remember, but the visuals and overall charm is way better than I remember. It’s pretty good overall, tbh.
